BENTLY NEVADA 3500/45 Differential Expansion/Axial Position Monitor
The 3500/45 Differential Expansion/Axial Position Monitor is a 4-channel monitor that can receive input signals from proximity eddy current sensors, rotary position sensors (RPT), DC linear variable differential converters (DCLVDT), AC linear variable differential converters (AC LVDT), and rotary potentiometers. The measurement type and related sensor inputs will determine which input/output (I/O) module is needed. It processes the input signal and compares the processed signal with user programmable alarm settings. Using the 3500 framework configuration software, the 3500/45 can be programmed to perform the following functions:
• Axial (lateral) position
• Differential inflation
• Standard single slope differential expansion
• Non standard single slope differential expansion
• Double slope differential expansion
• Compensatory differential expansion
• Shell swelling
• Valve position
Note: The monitor channels are programmed in pairs and can perform up to two of the above functions at a time. Channels 1 and 2 can perform one function, while channels 3 and 4 can perform another (or the same) function. However, only channels 3 and 4 can achieve shell expansion monitoring. The main functions of the 3500/45 monitor are:
1) By continuously comparing the monitored parameters with the set alarm points and driving alarms, mechanical protection function is provided
2) Provide basic machine information for operators and maintenance personnel.
According to the configuration, each channel can process the input signal into multiple parameters called "proportional values". Each valid proportional value can be configured as an alarm set point, while any two valid proportional values can be configured as a danger set point.
Front panel LED (Light Emitting Diode):
OK LED indicates that 3500/45 is operating normally
TX/RX LED: Indicates that the 3500/45 is communicating with other modules within the 3500 frame
Bypass LED: Indicates that 3500/45 is in bypass off state
When diagnosing faults through LED, the 3500/45 is similar to the previously mentioned 3500/40M.
Sensor buffer output: Each channel on the front panel of the monitor corresponds to a coaxial connector. Each coaxial joint is equipped with short-circuit protection. When using DC LVDT, channel 3 and channel 4 have a -10Vdc level conversion. When using ACLVDT, all channels are DC displays of AC signals returned by LVDT.
