ICS Triplex  T8311   Expansion interface module

The T8311 expansion interface module is installed in the controller rack and provides an interface between the controller rack and the expander rack. One expansion interface module T8311 can connect up to 7 expansion racks. The module is a fault-tolerant module with a HIFT TMR structure. Extensive diagnosis, monitoring, and testing are provided for rapid fault identification. Hot standby and module sharing configurations are supported to provide automatic and manual maintenance strategies.

The expansion interface module can be installed in any single width slot in the controller rack. Modules can also be installed in pairs, but the left-hand module should occupy an odd number of slots. Once paired modules are installed, the TMR processor determines which module will serve as the working module based on their status. When both modules are healthy, the left-hand module will be defaulted as the working module.

The communication between TRUSTED system and external systems can be achieved through the main processor, dedicated communication module, or gateway module. Multiple communication protocols can be used for serial communication and Ethernet communication. The communication module can be installed in the control rack and expansion rack.
