FCM2F2 is a fieldbus communication module launched by Invensys Foxboro, mainly used for data transmission and communication in industrial automation and control systems.
The fieldbus communication module (FCM) is a fiber optic communication extender that can remotely install 200 series fieldbus modules near factory processes.
The FCM2F2 (RH914YZ), FCM2F4 (RH917JA), and FCM2F10 (RH916TQ) models offer nominal maximum substrate to substrate fiber optic cabling distances of up to 2 km (1.24 mi), 4 km (2.48 mi), and 10 km (6.21 mi), respectively.
FCM is installed in pairs on standard baseboards to achieve redundancy. Non redundant configuration only requires a single FCM. Fiber optic cabling is not affected by electrical noise (electromagnetic interference, radio frequency interference, and lightning), and is a multifunctional and highly reliable means of extending signal communication.
It can be used in areas containing rotating machinery, arc welding machines, and other equipment, as well as installed in cable trays containing high-voltage wires, or in outdoor areas exposed to lightning hazards. Its electrical isolation characteristics can prevent voltage differences and grounding circuits.
