The FCM10E fieldbus communication module is a communication interface that allows fieldbus modules (FBM) installed on DINQ rails to communicate with I/A series control stations via high-speed, optional redundant 10 Mbps Ethernet backbone fieldbus. FCM10E can convert the 10 Mbps Ethernet signal used by the control station to the 2 Mbps signal used by FBM, and vice versa. They also provide electrical isolation between the 10 Mbps Ethernet backbone fieldbus and the 2 Mbps module fieldbus.

FCM10E modules are used in pairs to achieve redundancy. One FCM10E (or a pair of FCM10E modules) can support up to 30 FBMs. The FCM10E module has a compact design and is made of sturdy extruded aluminum material, which provides physical protection for the circuit. Up to 30 pairs of FCM10E can be connected to the Ethernet backbone fieldbus. The chassis designed specifically for installing DIN rail FBM equipment can provide varying degrees of environmental protection for fieldbus communication modules, up to the harsh environment specified in ISA standard S71.04.

FCM10E is installed on a DIN rail or rack mounted base plate, including signal connectors for fieldbus, power, and I/O cable connections. A base plate can support up to eight FBMs, or a combination of FBMs and FCM.
